1800s Chess Set at Mann House in Concord Michigan

One day my sister and I decided to ride our bikes through the city of Concord Michigan. Its a beautiful small town about 15 miles west of Jackson. We stopped at this big Victorian Home called the Mann House. built in 1884, Daniel Sears Mann and his wife constructed this house themselves so that their 2 daughters Jessie Ellen and Mary Ida could attend Concord School. Jessie lived there until she died in 1969 and then her home became a Museum listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Chess Set reminds me of one that Paul Morphy would have used and I am certain the Mann family played chess since most of the furnishings inside the home are original.
