This is Ryan and stopped in Cottage Inn to play a few games. One great thing about our Membership is, it’s absolutely free! So come on down! Jimio saying *Chess for Fun*

After a few years in the St joseph area, Marc is back home in Jackson ready to put the moves down. Marc is a very good blitz and standard player as I have known him for many years. Come on down to Cottage Inn just east of the Westwood Mall and give Marc a game. Just watch out! He is very tricky with his bishops. jimio saying *Chess for Fun* and *Chess to improve your Mind*

The Michigan Open had a very large turnout this year. I was glad to see a lot of children participating. Michigan has a large number of schools that play tournament chess. I think the teachers finally realized that chess does help you think better and it shows up in many other school subjects.
Ben Finegold is Michigan’s strongest player coming from a family of chess players, Ron, Ben’s dad and Mark, his brother are bothstrong experts.

I’m not sure if this happens to everyone, but when some of us play chess, we sometimes tend to discuss world politics or social upheaval. The nature of the game lends itself down these paths due to its warlike design and as what lies within a military structure, you will find it has a few similarities to society as a whole. The military abides by its own rules and laws just as society would. They have a top General, we have our President. Military prisons house the mis-behavers while we have plenty of civilian prisons. There are even passive openings and more aggressive openings, to suit ones playing style and which often can be reflected in different styles that crop up in real war situations. Of course, us chess players are only human and we will occasionally talk about normal things like who is the best guitarist or which car last the longest.
